Fast Food Convenience vs. Quality - 570 Words

Burger King and Wendy’s are among the top fast food chains in America, but this fact doesn’t elude either chain from having their negative and positive features. Burger King is cheaper, and has a wider assortment of food than Wendy’s, which makes Burger King more desirable to many Americans. What Wendy’s lacks in diversity, and lower priced food when compared to Burger King becomes irrelevant due to the higher speed and superior quality food they offer. Both qualities of Wendy’s help to maintain equal competition between the two in the fast food market of America. There is waiting time when you make a trip to Burger King for food; however it is relatively shorter than that of most fast food establishments. If someone goes through the drive thru during a â€Å"lunch rush† they’ll most likely have to wait a maximum of ten minutes to be given their food. That wait time is cut in half if they decide to walk in and place an order. On the ot her hand, any order placed when there isn’t a â€Å"rush† occurring is only going to have to wait about four minutes for their food. Burger King is exceptionally consistent when it comes to efficiency at preparing customer’s food. The short waiting time is seems to be complimented when paired with the low pricing at Burger King. There is not a single item on Burger King’s menu that is priced over seven dollars. Furthermore, a majority of Burger King’s items are priced lower than five dollars. The value menu, aka King Deals, at burger king containsShow MoreRelatedFast Food And Burger Bars1635 Words   |  7 PagesSome people don’t understand that we cook everything fresh to order.’ Scope of the study The aim of this investigation is to explore how does fast food burgers and burger bars impact on each over through the question fast food vs burger bars. The No Child Left Behind Act - 1124 Words

Christian J. Green Dr. Shoulders NCLB and ESSA 28 February 2016 The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was authorized by and signed into law in 2002. NCLB was a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965. NCLB was meant to hold schools to higher standards, enforce accountability, and close achievement gaps that had existed in education since ESEA was enacted. Nevertheless, the rigorous standards and goals set forth under NCLB were never attained. ESEA Flexibility could be attained from the U.S. Department of Education starting in 2012. The accountability plans states were allowed to develop under their ESEA Flexibility replaced Adequate Yearly Progress or AYP that was established under No Child Left Behind.†¦show more content†¦ESSA also expands to include components about preschool and post-secondary education. NCLB and ESSA differ on testing, issues of common core, accountability, and the resolution of accountability issues. NCLB required almost ten state standardized tests be given to st udents during their twelve years of education. States were mandated to test students on math and English every year in the third through eighth grades. One more test in both subjects was required in high school. It also mandated at least one science test in elementary, middle and high school. ESSA differs in terms of how, when, and possibly what tests are given. The same number of tests are required, but these tests can be broken into smaller portions. States are now encourage to find new methods of testing (that are scientifically based). No Child Left Behind did not address Common Core (a program of curriculum developed by a majority of states). This is because Common Core did not emerge until after NCLB was signed into law. ESSA allows states to adopt Common Core, however, Common Core was developed by the States and is not a federal program. Therefore, it is not a requirement. In fact, the Education Department is to remain neutral: The Secretary shall not attempt to influence, incentivize, or coerce State adoption of the Common Core†¦Ã¢â‚¬ The next two items that NCLB and ESSA differed on were accountability and the remediation that

City Hospitality free essay sample

City Hospitality On a bright early morning, I wake up from my deep sleep. After my usual breakfast of Quaker Oats, my mom leads me out of our tiny two-room apartment, and into the streets of our neighborhood, Harlem. The weather is warm, and a nice breeze is blowing smoothly. Some time later, I am sitting in the smooth and hard seats of New York City subway, my four-year-old eyes darting around nervously, looking at all the different people sitting and standing. The subway begins to move, and after a spell underground, we rise up to a bridge. Looking out the windows, what was just a few seconds ago a deep black becomes the glorious New York skyline. The towering skyscrapers, the bug-like cars lined up in a traffic jam, and the dirty sky burst into my view. At our stop, we walk up a flight of stairs and blend in anonymously into the streets of New York City. We will write a custom essay sample on City Hospitality or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page We pass a homeless man sitting against a store wall. And of course, I can never forget the pigeons, scattered along the streets looking for bits of food. My mom leads me inside a building with a playground next to it. Down the hall, I enter a room, and my senses spur to life. I had never seen so many kids all together. While my mom talks to some lady, I begin to get nervous, sensing something strange is going on. My mom says good-bye and begins to leave, and my eyes well up. I don’t know what to do, or even where I am. The lady tells me, â€Å"Welcome to your first day of school, I will be your teacher.† She calms me down, and leads me to a table with crayons, where I am destined to spend the day drawing cartoons with Carlos, Diego, and Rachel, three kids who I just met. In a span of maybe two hours, I had gone from feeling homesick to feeling at home, and having fun. This day really showed me despite some initial fears, the city was warm and accepting of people, no m atter who you are, and where you come from. I was born in Queens, when my parents had barely lived in the US for a year, and spent the first five years of my life in Harlem. New York is the home of the Yankees, my favorite team ever since. It’s home of the many subways I took daily to preschool, and to a myriad of cultures, people, and events—some of which I had the privilege of experiencing in the first five years of my life, such as going to Madison Square Garden, and playing on the playgrounds of Central Park. The walks in the streets, trips to Central Park, and seeing so many different, friendly people were everyday occurrences in my early childhood. When I was five, my parents got new jobs and decided to move upstate and out of the city. In the eleven years since I left the Big Apple, we have long adjusted to the middle class life. Only a long time later did I realize the situation we were in back then, living in a cramped apartment, and having to eat free meals from school. But I would not trade these exp eriences for anything. For one, they make me appreciate the conditions I enjoy now. But most of all some of the passions I’ve developed in New York City stay with me today: the Yankees, pride and appreciation of diversity, and the city. I left New York over a decade ago, but my time and memories made in that wonderful place will never leave me.
